Just gonna stand there
And watch me burn
But that's alright
Because I like
The way it hurts.

CHARACTER:
Name: Violet Rousseau (Goes by ‘Vi’)

Age: 24

D.O.B.: February 9th, 1985

Place of Birth: Obsidian City, Diamond District

Physical Description:

Beautiful, elegant, poised – all the things a woman should be, in some people’s opinion. Standing at 5’6” without heels on, Violet carries herself with an air of sophistication, her heels (usually bringing her up to a height of 5’8” on a good day) clicking in perfect criss-cross patterns on the sidewalk, just enough to make those curved hips of hers sway in subtle figure 8’s as she walked. Those hips of hers give her an hourglass figure, coming in tiny at the waist with curves that could and have stopped a man in his tracks.

Plump lips, usually coated in a bright red shade of paint, sit beneath a nose that fit her face just right. The bridge merges into her brow line - perfect arches over a pair of sparkling blue eyes – pretty pools that could turn very icy if you get on her bad side.

Golden tresses lay in loose waves that bounce against her shoulder blades when she walks, ending just above the dip of her back when she leaves it down. Every now and then her hair will switch from blonde to a deep shade of brunette, depending on how she’s feeling – or more likely depending on if a regular customer of hers that prefers one over the other is going to be around for a while.

Personality:

Violet used to be a very lively girl - always wanting to party and have fun. She still can be, if she's in a good enough mood (or if she's intoxicated, which is more likely), but for the most part she just puts on an act, now. She'll wear a big smile and dance with a man who she finds repulsive, just because she knows they're going to pay her by the end of the night. It's true, that the Ruby Girls get to pick their own clients, but sometimes...you needed to meet a quota, which meant dropping their standards.

If someone were to get passed the faux persona she puts on when she's out on the streets, they'd be able to see a young woman with eyes that reflect the sadness of past experiences. They'd see she isn't really as strong as she pretends to be - a sheltered little rich girl who went from the luxury of 5 star hotel rooms and lobster dinners to living in an apartment in the Ruby District, sleeping with men in order to make her salary to pay for her own meals...unless she conned the men into buying that for her.

She has a bratty side to her, but she grew up a lot the day Julian was murdered...the day she killed that man with the same gun that fired off the bullet that pierced her lover in the chest multiple times. She's sophisticated, and smart, but knows just enough to hold a decent conversation without sounding like an idiot. She can be rather defensive about things, and doesn't trust people...but she wants to. She's lonely, even though she's hardly ever alone, but never complains about it. Sometimes she cries at night, thinking about how her life turned out, but the next morning she'll be dabbing her face with foundation in order to make herself look pretty for whoever was going to buy her that night.

Sexuality: Bisexual by occupation, Heterosexual by choice

History:

Violet was born to a rather wealthy family, one who lived right at the center of the Diamond District. She was raised having all she ever wanted – clothing, jewelry, men - whatever it was, all she had to do was snap those well manicured fingers and it would appear. It was something she took advantage of, and quite often…usually to spite her father, who spoiled her rotten but never let her out of the house to do what she wanted. Whenever she so much as tried to go out with her friends, she was followed by one of her Dad’s goons, and at times she would go out of her way to do as many outrageous things as she could in a night, just so when the burly man who had been stalking her all night gave his report back to her dear father, she could imagine his face turning purple with anger.

Of course, all her time being rebellious would come back to bite her in the ass later on in life. Her father made sure he had not only one, but at least 3 of his best men keeping tabs on her at all times, which made it difficult for her to do anything. Even going to the bathroom resulted in having these large framed men waiting outside of the door, and if she wanted to go out with her friends, they would always have to be escorted like children – something her friends got sick of quickly. Before Violet knew it, she didn’t have any friends left, and her life consisted of roaming around Obsidian, the only company she had the bodyguards who wouldn’t even talk to her. They would remain completely silent whenever she tried to spark up a conversation, reduced to trying to make friends with the only people who could stand to be around her anymore – ironically the same people who forced everyone else to back away.

She had dug herself a deep hole, and wasn’t enjoying being forced to lay in it. She went to her mother crying a few times, telling her how lonely she was and how she wanted her father to just let her live her life and have fun. Her mom would stroke her hair and tell her that things would be okay, and that her father just worried about her…but in Vi’s eyes, her father just wanted to control her. All he wanted was to keep her a little girl forever, and at 17 years old, she wanted her freedom…the only thing she couldn’t obtain by snapping her fingers.

One night, when Violet was out of the house, she met a man named Julian who successfully managed to sneak her out of the bar where they had met after he had captivated her in order to take her back to his place. Instead of just having casual sex, the two made love through the night. She had only known him for a day, and she already wanted to see him again, and again, and again. So, she did. Night after night, she would sneak out of her bedroom in order to see the man who had stolen her heart the night he had stolen her.

The two lovers kept their secret for a few days, by some miracle...but it wasn't long before her father found out where his daughter was going all those nights she wasn't in her room when he would be pounding on the door. While she was laying with him in bed, the door to his home was busted down, and one of her father's men shot and killed Julian before either of them had the chance to say a word - before she had the chance to try and protest the murder of an innocent man who had done nothing but make her happy...something she hadn't been in a very long time.

Screaming and sobbing, the young woman held him in her arms, her silk nightgown drenched in his blood, clinging to the body of her dead lover as her father's man attempted to pull her off. Kicking and screaming, she managed to get away from him, and grab his gun...

...it went of 3 times, and there was a second dead body laying in the room before long. Shaking hands dropped the pistol, and rushed back to Julian's side, giving him a final kiss good-bye before she grabbed her coat and escaped out the window, rushing down the fire escape. Her head was hanging low, crimson liquid staining her platinum hair as she ran through the streets of Obsidian.

How she wound up in the Ruby District, she didn't even know. A series of trains brought her to her location, and just as she thought she was about to get away from everyone...she heard the click of a gun behind her as she walked down a dark alley. Her eyes fell closed, her mascara already running in streams down her cheeks as she carefully turned around, coming face to face with a beautiful woman who was holding the weapon. When she saw the blood on Violet's clothes, she asked her what happened. Thinking it didn't matter by this point - that even if she decided to shoot her right then and there, she wouldn't even care - she told the stranger what had happened. It was after the story was told that she told her to follow her...and it was then that she was brought to see Delilah Fontane.

The woman bathed and clothed Violet, letting her at least calm down before she offered her a deal. She told her that in exchange for shelter and clothing, she would become one of her girls...and having nothing less to lose, Violet agreed. It was then that she first dyed her hair a shade of dark chestnut, just to keep her identity hidden from those who would surely be looking for her. She was only a minor, so even if she were caught by the police, she wouldn't have been tried as an adult...but that didn't mean there wouldn't be severe consequences, were she proven guilty. Her dear Daddy probably would have gotten her out of that mess, just to keep his own name out of the paper...but she wanted nothing to do with him. Not now, not ever again.

The first time she slept with someone for money, she threw up as soon as she got home, feeling disgusted with herself. Over time, however, she became numb to it all. She just doesn't care anymore.

Now she's just trying to survive.

Special Skills/Abilities:
Ability to sing - She doesn't sing very often, but you can hear her melodious voice carry through her small little apartment while she showers, or while she's brushing her hair in the mirror.

Personal Weaknesses:
Stage fright - While she likes being the center of attention, the mere idea of standing up on a stage with bright lights on her is terrifying. It's why she never sings in public...because she's afraid people won't like her, or will tell her she's awful. So maybe she fears rejection more than the stage itself.

Physical strength - While Violet is a woman who can take care of herself, she isn't strong enough to defend herself against an attacker. She got extremely lucky the night Julian was killed, her strength coming from her anger and sorrow as she fought against her father's body guard. She relies on the aide of a blade, which is always on her person, or a gun when one is available.

Trust - Violet will always assume the worst of people, but she'll put on one hell of an act to make them think otherwise. It's never a good thing, when a client thinks the woman he paid for expects him to slit her throat at any second. She's always prepared for such an event, and will slit a man's (or a woman's) throat before they got the chance to ever hurt her...or seriously hurt her, anyway.

Personal Strengths:
Acting - She will make someone believe she's completely interested in them without them even questioning it. It's almost like she's a life-sized doll, putting on a face based on what the man or woman wants from her.

Loving - This may seem like a contradicting 'strength' based on what other information has been provided about Violet, but once she falls in love with someone...she's completely devoted. The first man she ever loved was Julian, and she only knew him for a few days...but she loved him with all of her being. Her heart fluttered at the thought of him, and even to this day, almost 8 years later, she still thinks about him.

Theft - Over the years, Violet has developed quite the set of sticky fingers. She learned from some of the other girls how to pick a man's pocket, or sneak an expensive item into her small purse.

Likes: Dresses, the color pink, men with beautiful eyes, long hair that she can run her fingers through, violets, organization, expensive clothing/shoes, laying in bed all day, tea, the scent of baking cookies, apple pie a la mode, the smell of fabric softener

Dislikes: Listening to men talk about themselves all the time, acting like someone she's not (though she's very good at it), her family, the size of her apartment, not having enough money to buy the things she wants, not feeling safe

Family:
Lawrence Rousseau - Father; 49
Jeanette Rousseau - Mother; 45

Profession: Prostitute

Living Conditions: A very small and fairly dingy apartment in the Ruby District - it's decorated with throw pillows and other things to make it seem 'homey', but it portrays her lifestyle very well.

Affiliation: Ruby Girls

Preferred PB: Amber Heard

ETC: She always keeps a silver necklace in her bag, a man's ring hanging at the end, falling against her chest plate whenever she wears it. The ring belonged to Julian, and the jewelry is only ever worn while she's at home, but it's always on her person.
